Is my baby Alive?

I was having this bleeding along with two tiny pin point sized blood clots around 5 weeks and 6 days. I went to the ER and the doctor said I had bleeding around my baby. They did a intervaginal ultrasound and I implanted correctly. He said there's been cases where it's just a one time thing and stops and there are cases where it stops and starts repeatedly until you pass the baby. (Miscarriage) he said it could be a broken blood vessel or it could be serious he wasn't giving me a straight answer and it's too early to see the heartbeat. I'm 6 weeks and 2 days now and I haven't had anymore bleeding. Is my baby still alive? Would he have been able to tell if he/she was alive even without the heartbeat currently present? Has anyone else experienced this and had a healthy pregnancy? Bleeding around the fetus.
