No sleeping on back?!?!

Question

I read that it’s not good to sleep on your back while pregnant. I just find it so hard not to. Like I toss and turn all the time but I find it even more often with the fact I can’t stay on my side or if I try and turn over it kind of hurts my muscles. 
Anyone else having these issues? 
Btw I’m 16w 5d as of today

I literally just had this convo with my OB today!  She said that any position is fine but to not lay on your back on a “hard surface” after 20 weeks because you can feel faint.  So, if you go to the gym avoid your laying on the floor after 20 weeks but laying on your back, sides or stomach in bed is totally fine.

Hey! Get a pregnancy pillow! I didn’t have one with my first but I got one this time and it has already helped a ton! It took a couple nights to get used to it but now I can’t sleep without it! (I have one like the one in the pic!)

I’ve read somewhere that there’s a really small percentage of pregnant women that shouldn’t sleep on their back for an actual reason that causes real problems. So they just say that no one should be doing it.. :)

I worry about this every night! I always wake up on my back. Body pilllows and all.

You aren’t supposed to because all the pressure caves on the vena cava.  But know it will make you feel short of breath, waking you from sleep and you will turn over.

Your technically not supposed to. The *left* side is best for the baby but honestly this is my 3rd i sleep in whatever position i can get comfortable. Im normally a stomach sleeper. I'm 16 weeks today

Technically you’re not supposed to, but I did with my first and do with this pregnancy. Your body will tell you if you need to change sleeping positions.
As you get further along being on your back won’t be comfortable though. I’d highly suggest getting a body pillow to make sleeping on your side more comfortable.

I asked my mom about this today as I’m 15 weeks tomorrow. She said she slept on her stomach for all four of her pregnancies because that’s how she was comfortable. And we’re all fine-ish. Lol
