crazy to buy baby stuff during first trimester?

Currently 8 weeks. My reasoning is that my husband and I will be in a small rural town for contract work during my second trimester, away from our apartment, and any stores that would sell anything we need. Third trimester I will be back home, but in my senior year of college (commuting 1 hour each way daily) and potentially working part-time, and I simply can't imagine I'll have the energy to do school, work, and much else. I am also not having a baby shower, so I am not relying on anyone else for the stuff I need for my child. I figured buying what I can, when I can, was the best option, but I feel like I'm jinxing myself!
