African American baby doll offensive?
My 18 month old baby is 100% Asian with extremely fair skin and very light almost blondish brown hair. Last month my mom took her to Target to buy her her first baby doll. She chose an African American baby doll. There was nothing else that looked like her. They don't really sell many Asian baby dolls. She loves that doll. She takes it everywhere and calls it her baby. She feeds her whenever shes eating and the doll sits on the toilet when shes in thr bath. This weekend we took her to a kids carnival and ran into an African American family who found it offensive. One of the men even went out of his way to approach my husband and tell him that she can't have the doll. We never chose the doll for her. We let her choose. We couldnt care less what color the doll was or what she looked like. We come from mix family as well. I'm so lost about how this is offensive.. my husband wont even let my daughter take the doll out of our house anymore and she cries and screams for it when we leave the house 😖
