RE Suddenly Ditching Monthly Payments and Demanding Half My Balance
So, I've been working with my RE for a year and a half now and our agreement has always been that as long as I make regular monthly payments of a minimum of $25, I could continue going to her. The current balance is $2,646 and some change and I make sure that I always make my payment.
Recently she has been making some questionable decisions as far as my fertility treatments go and I began to be uncertain. I have pcos and hypothyroidism, need femara to ovulate and have an incredibly thin lining that needs treatment in order to thicken. Instead of using typical estrogen based treatments,(she doesn't believe in them whatever that means) she put me on ortho tri cyclen for two months to see if that would thicken my lining. I'm just starting my second month. After asking repeatedly as to why I can't have a traditional treatment, I still have not received her reasoning for making me take birth control. In fact, the last 3 visits I had weren't even with her but, with an RN who admitted herself that she didn't understand why my doctor was doing this and then 2 phone nurses who I still feel weren't qualified to answer my questions. Finally, after much calling and demanding, I get an appointment scheduled where I can actually see the doctor so that I can ask my questions. That was 2 weeks ago. The appointment is set for June 5th.
Today, I recieve a call from another phone nurse and I was told that my doctor demands that I pay half my balance in a single payment before our next appointment or she will no longer see me or continue to treat me. So, now I have unnecessary hormones running through my body which halted my ttc journey in its tracks and no doctor to continue my treatments because who can pay over $1000 at the drop of a hat in 2 days? If I were informed of this sudden change in policy two weeks ago then I would've been able to pay it slowly but, our savings have been wiped out between our car breaking down, our dog suddenly becoming epileptic, losing all of our food because our fridge and freezer broke and a shitty succession of family birthdays and mother's day and we have literally $40 to our name until Friday leaving us between a rock and a hard place.
I attempted to apply for Care Credit but, was denied because I "don't have real estate loans" and my insurance doesn't cover anything. What do I do? Should I switch to another doctor and start over? Can she change our payment agreement with only a 2 days notice? Is she even to be trusted considering she is administering questionable treatment while basically refusing to answer my questions? Has anyone experienced this before? Please help, I'm losing it over here. Thanks in advance ladies.💕
