When did you make your birth plan?

I’m 21w1d and I haven’t made my birth plan yet, nor has anyone mentioned it to me. Is that normal? Am I supposed to be the one to bring it up? When did everyone make theirs?

I wrote out a birth plan for my first and honestly, it all went to hell and she was born emergency c section.

I had one made in the second trimester. I wanted a natural labor and no induction. Third trimester hit and my blood pressure shot up and I been on bed rest ever since. My birth plan went to shit and I’m being induced. I don’t see a point in a birth plan, you never know what could be thrown at you at any point. If you want to make one go ahead. Overall, the best birth is the one that’s safest for you and baby.

In the car on the way to the hospital. I scrawled out a list and gave it to my mom (who acted as my doula) and told her to enforce it. Literally my main points were natural as possible and no c-section.

I said “can you please give me something to take away the pain?” And that’s all I had 🤣 I already knew their policy on skin to skin and that was all I cared about. I think some people can go overboard for birth plans and try and plan out every single detail. Labor and life in general doesn’t work out that way. The doctors and nurses know what they are doing, I don’t lol

I asked my doctor and she gave me a template and guide to write up my birth plan at my 20 week scan! Maybe ask your doctor and see!

My doctor didn’t talk about delivery until 37 weeks 😂 and that’s only because I asked when were they going to “take this thing out of me”

My birth center doesn’t give us our birth plan worksheet until third trimester.  If you want to do something sooner, ask your doctor if they have a guide or worksheet you can use to discuss certain aspects of labor and delivery and make decisions with your significant other.
