Any tips on learning how to drive a manual?

🌿

My husband took me out for the second time yesterday to teach me, and I definitely did better than the first time, but I'm still struggling a little. I'm wondering if there are any tips or different ways people explain things that may make it easier for me to learn.

Both times he took me out, he took me to a church parking lot and I think that may be one of the main problems. It just doesn't feel as natural to drive it since I'm having to turn every 50ft and I'm already unfamiliar with these parking lots, so that adds to the stress a little when I don't really know where I'm going (these parking lots have really weird layouts).

He did let me drive half way home last night from the movies (late at night, hardly any cars on the road lol) and I think that was so much easier. I suggested maybe he let me drive some country back roads since there won't be many cars and I can drive on an actual road.

I know this takes time and patience, but I need to learn quickly. We have 2 trucks and a motorcycle and I can only drive my automatic truck, which has been having some issues lately, so I need to know how to drive the manual truck in case I need to take it to work, instead of asking for rides.
