Name similar to historical figure

I just googled the name we are thinking for a boy, and I learned that it is very similar to a semi-obscure historical figure who was a prominent soldier and activist in the revolutionary war. The only problem: my hubby’s family is British and very proud of their loyalist heritage (in other words, they fought for the other side). How much does this matter? Should we change our name choice? I doubt anyone would ever know the coincidence unless they googled the name. Not disclosing the name, sorry!
