Thoughts on getting an enema at the hospital at the start of labor?

I dont have any clue why one would get that.
Delivery nurses and doctors have seen thousands of women poop on the table. They are diligent and clean up before you even realize it. 
An enema is absolutely not needed. So why put your body through more trauma , when you are in active labor and about to give birth on top of it..
It seems very unnecessary to be honest

That’s very old practice and not done anymore. Been a labor and delivery nurse a long time.

Rectal pressure? You won’t feel any pressure over the pain and you wouldn’t care if you sprayed the walls while you’re pushing. It’s a common first time mom fear, but when it comes down to it, none of this will matter in the moment.
