some girl was texting him talking about how she missed him and how he was in love with her and he just needed to hear her out and she’d make it better and i told him it popped up on my phone and it kinda worried me. when he asked me why, this was my response. anyone else?

Your response is all over the place. From his perspective; your simply purging all of your emotions and fears onto him and saying “here. Take these”
That’s YOUR stuff, not his. 
He can’t control what other people say and do (including other women) and it’s not his job to unload you of your feelings and irrational fears; especially if he’s done nothing to make you feel that way.
Here’s what you should say:
“Seeing those texts brought awareness to myself that I’m feeling insecure in our relationship. It’s not your fault. I’ve created an irrational story that you have options and if I do anything wrong, you may just leave and move on. I’m just needing some extra hugs right now”

That response is a dangerous one. I say this because say he was toying with cheating, you basically just told him you’d believe him that he wasn’t cheating. Giving him the power.
I’m a little confused on 1)why were they texting 2) she had a lot to say and put it out there for someone who has a gf.
I would seek help from a therapist to go over your insecurities. Good luck

You so sound very insecure. You chose the wrong words to use with him. You come off as insecure and kinda desperate and pretty much just have him all the power
To do what he wants that you’ll basically always believe whatever he says

I’ve been there but honestly it’s not a place to be. You have to be secure in yourself and also in your relationship. Both aren’t always easy but things like that coming across his phone don’t help. Don’t give ANYONE that much power over you, to value him and be thankful for him is one thing but when you’re at the point where you’re questioning “why me?” And looking at all his “other options” then it’s getting unhealthy. 
Don’t let your emotions overrun your logic.
