Will an induction work?

You guys, I’m 41 weeks today and the plan is to get me induced this weekend and I can’t wait to meet my little baby! 😍
My question is: do you need to be dilated for an induction to work? The baby’s head has been engaged for a few weeks now and my doctor said that I’m slowly starting to dilate too but it’s not even at a cm yet. I’m so scared that the induction will fail and I will either have to get a c-section or be sent home! I’ve tried everything to get the baby out (except for castor oil) and he just seems to be way too comfortable in there.
Encouraging stories would be much appreciated!

I was at 0cm with my 1st induction. I had cervadil placed (a vaginal suppository to soften the cervix) and it started my labor. By the time they started pitocin I was at 4cm. I had a smooth, normal delivery. With my 2nd induction I was at 1cm when I had cervadil placed and ended up delivering before pitocin was started. So you don't need to be dilated but I highly recommend cervadil!

I got induced and ended up being fully dilated but was pushing for hours and couldn't do it anymore so emergency ceserean in the end. Anything can happen.

You’ll do great. I was scheduled to be induced on a Wednesday morning and ended up going into labor Monday night through Tuesday. If you have to get induced it will go good. I was a nervous nelly but happy the way labor went.

I got induced at 39 weeks, and my baby wasn’t even engaged yet at that point in time, I thought the worst and thought I would have to get a section but 1 hour after getting induced my waters broke, and then 7hours later I had my baby.. x

They have medication they can administer prior to your induction to help your cervix if needed but if you’re already dilated the process is easier. It is possible to be induced without being dilated before you go in!!

My doctor said I had to have a Bishop score of 9 or higher to have better odds of the induction working. Maybe ask your doctor what your score is? Although she didn’t mention it with my first, only my second so idk if there’s a reason there? 
Anyway, I was induced with both my kids. First at 42 second at 41 weeks. I was dilated and effaced for both. For the first he was engaged and low, second was not engaged and high. First was 8 hours and 3 pushes start to finish. Second was 6 hours and 2 pushes start to finish. Good luck!!

I had been having braxton hicks everyday for a week before I was induced at 41+5. They examined me before starting and I wasn’t dilated at all but after 2 hours I started contracting. I didn’t have a show until I was 4cm and then they broke my waters. After that, it only took 3 hours for her to be born (16 hours in total). Good luck!

I was induced after my due date and my cervix was closed and High. Super easy labor and delivery no issues! It kicked my body into labor and even after the meds were stopped my body continued on its own! I was even able to labor on the exercise ball and stuff without an epidural for a while!

Oh and I haven’t had any other signs of labor either, no Braxton Hicks or bloody show or anything 😔
