Postpartum sex

So i had my son on april 14 2019. I had a 3rd degree tear. Had my first dr appointment at 4 weeks. When my dr checked me he told me i had to wait until july to have sex again!?? Im going on 8 wks postpartum and dont know how much longer i can wait. My husband and I havent had sex the ENTIRE time i was pregnant due to pregnancy issues. Im literally feeling disconnected to my husband and cant wait to be intimate again! Is my dr being over cautious?? I feel like thats an excessive amount of time to wait 😔
