Help!!!!
My baby is not good at breastfeeding, straight up.
She was born with a posterior tongue tie, and I have flat nipples so we were kinda doomed from the start. Since she was born we have had troubles latching, and I have seen 5 lactation consultants.
The second one I saw gave me a nipple shield to try, and when she is in the mood, my baby will breast feed okay with that on. If I wait too long (she wakes up a lot or starts to get fussy) then it’s too late and she will refuse my breast and I have to bottle feed. Recently I feel like she has learned what the nipple shield is like in her mouth and she refuses it pretty much every time. I saw my family dr for a 6 week check up and he pretty much told me to give up, which made me feel both really defeated, and determined to prove him that I can breastfeed.
Right now I am trying to breastfeed, I pump around 3 times a day and taking Fenugreek which has helped with my supply. We give formula when there isn’t enough breast milk pumped.
I guess my question is, has anyone else gone through the same thing? If so, what did you do? Are there really good nipple shields up there that I should try that she wouldn’t already know? (The lactation consultant gave me a Medela one) I have seen the Hakkaa one posted on a different thread but I don’t know where to get it. My goal is to be 95% breastfeeding, and bottle feeding so I can leave her and she can eat still.
Thanks for reading my novel 😅
