CSection a 38 Weeks?

Question

Did anyone have their Csection  scheduled for 38 weeks? Was baby healthy and did everything go good? We are scheduling mine for 38 weeks, but i keep reading articles about how thats "dangerous".
The reason we are doing it at 38 weeks is because my doctor leaves for two weeks after that, and so she gave me the option of one: her doing it at 38 weeks or two: a different doctor doing it at 39 weeks. 
I need to have a csection because my daughter was an emergency csection and these two pregnancies were too close together. 
I REALLLLLY want my doctor to deliver my baby. I trust her and she is such a great doctor... she did such a great job on my first csection... but I dont want baby to be at risk...

Both my girls born at 38 weeks by c section. This one will be at 37 weeks to keep us both safe. I’ve been given steroids for her lungs and I’m confident she’ll be ok.....my girls are now 18 & 14 this year and weighed 9lbs 12 oz and 6lbs 8ozs

I had an emergency c section at 35 weeks. He’s a perfectly smart heathy 5 year old now! :)

The reason is can be dangerous is there's still a chance of the lungs being underdeveloped at 38 weeks when you haven't gone into labor naturally. However they can do an NST and ultrasound to check baby's breathing exercises. They did that with me when my blood pressure was getting too high. I ended up making it to 39 weeks but they did take that measure and assured me if I did have to deliver at 38 weeks that my baby looked ready.

My son was delivered at 38 weeks via c section. He was 6 lbs, 6 oz, fairly small. I would have waited a little longer if i could, but the doctor was insistent that there was “no reason not to” and i was naive and thought that meant he had my best interest in mind. The baby was healthy, even though he was quite slender, and didn’t have any issues, either short or long term.

38 weeks is classed as term here in the uk. Your baby would have the same risk as needing medical intervention as any other term baby. As asked for my baby to be born at 38 weeks, I’m a neonatal nurse and have seen the dangers in being post term and don’t want to risk that. I know my view different because of my work but you can’t undo what you have experienced. My consultant is happy for me to give birth at 38 weeks and I feel much safer with that plan.
