Schedule at seven weeks?

So, I have been trying to implement a schedule with my almost eight week old that loosely follows Babywise (eat, play, sleep). I am having a super difficult time getting her to take full feeds and NOT fall asleep while feeding!!! Is anyone else having this issue? If i don’t put her down to sleep when she’s sleepy, then I have the most cranky, overstimulated babe around. Any tips or tricks? We are ready to sleep more than four hour stretches at night 😅

I found my 8 week old wants to play eat then sleep during the day and just before bed he does eat play eat again then sleeps through when he plays it's 20mins at the max or he is very cranky so combine playing eating and getting changed he is up for no more than an hour

I was taught by my babies pediatrician to get baby a little “mad” before feeding. Not red in the face, furiously crying, mad. But uncomfortable. So diaper changes before. Keeping baby naked instead of putting them back in the comfy warm clothes and tickling as they start to fall asleep. Either tickle the feet or stroke the face from mouth to ear to keep them from dozing off! My little man has been eating like a monster so hopefully this helps you too!

I always do diaper change before nursing. That tends to wake baby up. Nothing like a cold wet wipe on your bottom 😂
I have to do that anyway. Cause if I lay baby down after to change then after eating they just spit up. I gotta keep him upright for like 30min.

I loosely follow the same thing - my son just turned 9 weeks.. if the babe wants to sleep instead of play then the babe sleeps instead of plays! Just follow their cues and if the schedule gets fudgey just try your best to get back on track - if its just one of those days just let it happen but keep bedtime the same and try again tomorrow!

This and all the your comments about is EXACTLY our situation lol I’ve been loosely following babywise too but I mainly still just follow his cues. And no matter what the day looks like he always goes to bed around 8 or 8:30 but then only sleeps til 12:30 and then the rest of the night can be a little iffy haha he’s also been eating a little less than usual at feedings so idk!  My LO will be 8 weeks on Saturday. Maybe this is just part of their 8 week developmental leap? But I’ve definitely noticed his eating and sleeping change a little bit the past few days. He used to consistently sleep a good 5 hr stretch at night and sometimes even 6 or 7! But he hasn’t been able to do that the past few days. It’s been 4 and then maybe another 3 if I’m lucky.

Lol. 7 week olds can’t really be put on a schedule yet. They need to eat when they’re hungry and sleep when they’re tired. My girl is 11.5 weeks, just wait it out. They’ll sleep longer when their body is ready to.
