Stripping the membranes?

What are your thoughts on stripping your membranes? I'm 36 weeks and 6 days, I'm dilated to a three, and today at my appointment my doctor asked if I would like my membranes striped.  I told her not at this appointment because I wanted to read up on it.. what are your guys thoughts?

I'm pro nature. Let the baby come when the baby wants to come. I wouldn't let them to do It to me unless I was past 40 weeks. But that's just my feelings.

I plan on doing it at 39 weeks as I am going for vbac and doctors won't let me wait long before scheduling C section. I am waiting for my GBS results before though cuz I heard u can't get it if u test positive. Good luck

37 weeks is considered full term but if you're already 3cm why not let nature take its course?

I had that done with my second child, I actually asked him if there was a way he could help me start labor and he told me about it and I had it done at the office from there left straight to the hospital

I did it with my son, I'm 38 weeks tomorrow if I make it to my appt next week I'm going to ask for it

In my opinion let your body do what it knows to do and that's labor! Stripping of membranes can be risky. Could cause cord compression, fetal distress, artificial rupture of membranes. This is on my do not list personally.

Going to wait until my 39 week appt.  I'll be 39+3 days at that point, and I think the chances of being really tight down there will be less, so it's likely to hurt less.

I can not due to gsb+ but i would try that as an option before induction if it came to that and i could.

Due to high BP they scheduled me for induction at 39 weeks. I still have to be watched before that gets here so I requested that we try stripping my membranes at 38+4 (my last appointment before my induction) to see if I can get it going naturally without meds. I really wouldn't unless it was medically necessary. It also only has a 23-25% success rate and can be painful if your body isn't quite ready yet.
