Daycare Woes

Carol

Hi March Mamas,

I go back to work in August and I’m working on arranging daycare. It’s breaking my heart but we can’t make it on my husband’s paycheck alone. I’ve toured several daycare centers and I’ve come to the conclusion that you get what you pay for. I’ve also been looking into home daycare places and I haven’t found one that I feel comfortable with as of yet. The nice daycare centers with cameras all cost almost more than our mortgage each month. We really can’t afford it without my husband getting a second job. I offered to get a second job and he wouldn’t hear of it. My mom offered today to help us pay for a good daycare center but my husband wouldn’t hear of that either. He says it makes him look bad that he can’t pay for it. We both want what’s best for our little girl but I also don’t want him working himself to death. I’m a teacher so I get summers off and we won’t have to pay for childcare then. I don’t know what the right move is here. Do I try and convince him to let my parents help? They gave us money for a down payment on a house (instead of paying for a wedding). He also had an issue with that but eventually came around. I just have no idea how to talk to him about this because he’s completely shut down. Thoughts?

Here’s a picture of our little goober:) so much cute!
