4th round of Clomid... or not?
I have PCOS, and my husband and I have been TTC for about a year. I had my 21 day bloodwork after my 3rd round of Clomid on Monday, and my Progesterone level is still stuck exactly where it has been all along, at 0.8 😣😢 ...nowhere near where it needs to be! I don't ovulate or get normal periods on my own, and clearly the Clomid is doing nothing to help. I did two rounds of 50mg, and the most recent was 100mg. I am also on Metformin (850mg twice a day), thyroid medication (I am mildly hypothyroid), and prenatal vitamins. I take Medroxyprogesterone to induce periods after each (failed) round of Clomid. I do not have insulin resistance - my doctor was hopeful that I would ovulate with Metformin alone.
When the nurse called to tell me that I didn't ovulate this month, she offered to call in another round of medroxyprogesterone and Clomid (still 100mg) ... but I don't see the point. I have an appointment to see my OB/GYN on October 13th (I tried to reschedule and come in sooner, but she is booked). I would like to discuss my other options (injectable medications, IUI and ultrasound monitoring, Femera, IVF?) with her at that time, but I feel like starting another round of Clomid would just be a waste of time.
I am normally someone who very closely follows their doctor's advice, and doesn't self-diagnose or ask Dr. Google, but I am feeling so frustrated and I truly do not see the value in continuing Clomid, especially at the same dose, and potentially postponing the start of any other treatment even longer. The other issue at play is that the Clomid & Metformin together make me feel absolutely horrible - I could deal with that if I knew there was a chance it was working, but that hasn't been the case.
Does anyone have any thoughts or advice about this? Part of me wants to just take a break from all these crazy medications for a couple weeks, but I don't want to take two steps forward and three steps back just because I am frustrated.
You guys are always so helpful and supportive, thank you in advance! 💕
