Is anyone being induced?

Question

I was admitted to L&D two days ago because of high liver enzymes. Turns out I have Cholatsis of pregnancy and need to be induced by 37 weeks. I’m 33 weeks at the moment and haven’t 4 weeks to prepare myself for baby girls arrival. What should I expect with induction? 😫

Be prepared for a c-section! My sister was induced at 36+4 and they did everything they could to get her to dilate and nothing worked. Finally after 24 hours after rupturing her water they did a c-section

I was induced with my first at 41 weeks. I wasn’t dilated at all or fully effaced, so I imagine it could be similar to being induced earlier.
They did what they call a slow induction for me. I came in at 6 pm and they started me off with cervadil, which is administered vaginally and helps thin your cervix. The next morning at 6 am they started me on pitocin. It was still a slow process for me, but I did not find pitocin very uncomfortable and my contractions stayed pretty mild pain-wise. Sometime early that evening I had progressed enough that they broke my water, which did cause contractions to become stronger but I still felt like the pain was pretty manageable. I still wanted an epidural so I got one shortly after they broke my water since the nurse recommended it. Once it was getting closer to time to push they lowered my dosage so I could feel the contractions but not the pain. This helped me know when to push. My son was born shortly before 11 pm after less than an hour of pushing.
Overall I was very happy with my experience. It was long and exhausting, but I would totally do it again if it was needed. I hope that helps you feel calmer about the whole thing!

They started by giving me a medication vaginally to soften my cervix at around 4pm. That night they decided to give me a uterine catheter to put pressure on my cervix. At 7am I was dilated to 4cm, and had been having contractions for over 12 hours, but they started me on pitocin. Around 2pm they broke my water manually. I continued having active labor contractions, and at 1am I was still only 4cm dilated, so they prepared me for a C-section. He was born at 2:26am after 33 hours of labor and an emergency C-section.

I have ICP too and am being induced on July 3 at 36w6d.  As scary as that was when I was first diagnosed, the thought of keeping baby in scares me more.  Now I’m just hoping he turns head down, so he can come out vaginally and not by c section!

I was induced with my last baby!  It went very smoothly.  It was about 10 hours from the time they started pitocin to the time she was born. If you have questions, I’m happy to answer. 😊
