Is it rude and inconsiderate to not open gifts at my baby shower?

No one even paid much attention when I opened my gifts lol. They were too busy talking with everyone else..which I didn't mind, because I don't really like all eyes on me. There was of course the few that would pay attention when we called out that we were opening their gift next. As far as baby shower etiquette, I think you really should open there..but it's just really up to you 🤷‍♀️

I think it’s better to open when guest leave. Other wise gift after gift or you hear is the same thing... aaaaawww how cute lol  I personally find it boring to watch someone open a hundred gifts but that’s just me 🙈🙊 watching a few is nice but when it drags on

People like to see that you appreciate what you got them. Personally I always feel like the gift opening always takes forever but I still enjoy seeing the recipient react when they open the gift I have carefully made/picked out for them.

People want to see you open their gift and thank them in person. For my shower we had everyone eat the cupcakes and made snacks so they could eat while I was opening gifts. Then everyone wanted to see what I got so I passed everything around for everyone to see. I personally find it rude to not open gifts especially if you are doing a ladies only shower.

It’s funny that you ask this. I just had my shower last week and I only opened a few gifts from those who asked politely that I open theirs before they leave. I did this for several reasons, the main one because I am super horomonal and emotional and I asked guests to bring a book for her nursery and write a note to her in the front. I knew this would make me extremely emotional so I didn’t want to read them at the actual shower. My mom had a big fit (after a few glasses of wine): “people want you to open their gifts!” So I relented and started bawling the first one I opened. My sister in law saved me and was like “she is NOT opening any more right now.” And that was that! Whatever you decide, your guests will understand, especially when you write them a heartfelt thank you note. Enjoy your shower!

Depends on the flow/vibe of the shower. The family sit down shower we’re having, gifts will be opened. We will not open gifts at the co-Ed Friends shower at the local brewery.

It’s takes foreverrrrrrr so idk if I’m doing it at mine which is in 2 weeks, but ig it depends on if there’s a lot of time left for that because sometimes you have so much fun it just takes too long to get to it 😊

I wouldn’t say totally rude, but one of the reasons people attend is to see all of the exciting gifts. But I’m sure it’s fine either way.
