Bought a vibrator for my relationship, and he hates it

I recently bought a vibrator to spice things up with my boyfriend. Before he seemed really excited with the idea of it. Now that I bought one he hates it. He seems to think that he doesn’t satisfy me enough and he doesn’t have to do anything now that I’ve bought it. Is this normal and how can I fix this?
