Finally have the guts to share my birth story
So... I was 40+2 days and made an appointment to start the induction 05/20/19. The plan was for me to stay overnight and do the induction the next morning. I had gotten a call from the hospital telling me that they had no beds available and would call me back around 5 to let me know if one became available. I called my office and they told me to go anyways because I was scheduled that way. I went to the hospital and they told me none was available and would call me back at 8. My husband and I decided to hangout at a sports bar until then. 8:45 came and there was still no call! So we headed back And told them, they had us wait and then said a bed is available. Finally we thought.
We headed to L&D and went into the room, it was very nice, I guess that’s what we paid for. They hooked up my iv, monitorand bay monitor and gave me a pill to start the induction and then another one at 4 am to continue the contractions. They next morning i started the induction process, my contractions started but I was able to handle the pain. At around 5pm my water broke and I was leaking everywhere. I told my husband to get someone and the nurse started cleaning me up. They then checked me and said my cervix is soft and I’m at 2cm and also said the baby pooped a little bit it was okay because it was a small amount. Throughout the rest of the evening I was going through awful contractions and couldn’t even speak, the nurse kept checking me and I was then barely at 3cm. Idk what it was but I was slowly dilating. When I couldn’t talk or could barely breathe through the contractions I decided to get the epidural. They applied something that itched and told me it would feel like a bee bite. I could feel the cool medication going through my back, it was hooked up like and I.V. , when I clicked the button it would send medication to my spine, relieving the pain. At 12am I was finally at 5 cm but I had another 5cm to go. They then realized that when I had contractions the baby heart rate would go really low. Now that I realize what happened it’s chilling just saying it. We kept going, then they gave me medication to slowdown/ stop the contractions to see what was going on. They mentioned putting liquid in me so the baby would have space to move but they ran out and no other hospital had the liquid, which is very shitty to tell a patient. They mention that I may have to have a cesarean, there was a very annoying and pushy nurse who was just basically giving us an anxiety. My husband tried to calm me down because I didn’t plan at all for that to happen. I just thought I was too young, too healthy, that I should be able to do this naturally. I told the nurses that I would like the doctor to come to the hospital to speak with us. At this point I was bawling, my husband tried his best to keep me calm while my mother was trying her best to not cry. The doctor came in and told me that we can either wait it out until the morning but that could affect him or I could do the cesarean to be on the safe side, I chose to do the cesarean. I cried a little more while trembling and my husband got a little teary eyed. They prepared me and wheeled me to the operating room, I was so afraid because this was the first surgery I have ever done in my life. The numb me and gave me pain medication. I felt tugging and then crying. They made my husband come in and he saw the gory sight. Finally my baby boy was born, happy and healthy. They put him on me to breastfeed for a bit then removed him from the room while I got sown up. The recovery was terrible because of the cesarean, my husband had to help me change my underwear.
He’s so precious to me. You mean everything Zion Ohring.
