Growing up with my mother Instead of her instilling respect in me for her it was fear I was terrified of my mom growing up and she never abused me she just used to yell, threaten me, she was verbally abusive, emotionally abusive, mentally abusive like very manipulative and controlling! Never physically abuse tho!

Is it wrong for parents to instill fear in their children to make them listen?

My son is doing just fine and he’s not afraid of me he has the upmost respect for me! And he gets spanked and he still doesn’t fear me like I feared my mom!
