Take out the IUD before or after?

We plan on trying for our first kid in September after our cruise to Baja Mexico. 
I have an IUD which I’ve had for 2 years now. I have thought about taking the IUD out before our cruise so that everything normalizes before we start trying. I am thinking a month or a few weeks. 
I talked to hubby and he is insure about that because 1. He doesn’t want me to have a period while on the cruise 2. We will be drinking on the cruise 3. He is afraid we will be pregnant before we go. 
My question is do you recommend that I take it out before the cruise or should I wait tell after to take it out?

Use condoms if you dont want to get pregnant before the cruise. Practice safe sex.

I would say have it removed beforehand because it’s going to take awhile for your cycles to regulate most likely after being taken off of it. I think the average is four to six months to get pregnant after being taken off of it if everything is in good shape. You can always use back up non hormonal birth control until then.

I got my IUD out middle of April and now we’re expecting! One thing though, I was spotting for over a week after I got my IUD removed.

Depends what iud you have I think, after taking my hormonal one out it took about 6 months for my period to come back, but my copper one didn’t change anything :)

My only worry is that I don’t want to have a period while on the cruise. We will most likely be drinking on it too so I don’t want there to be a chance of being pregnant while on the cruise...
