Does getting a iud hurt ?

I got one about 4 months ago. I’ve never had a baby before (my doctor said that makes a huge difference because of your cervix). It hurt. You know those Charlie horse cramps you get in your calf? Yeah, it felt like that but worse and in my uterus. It only hurt for about 3 minutes... but it hurt bad! All I was told to take before hand was 4 ibuprofen. The cramps after we’re nothing compared to it. I didn’t bleed until about a week after it was inserted... I have bled ever since... it hasn’t stopped. I was told I would NOT have a period anymore when I got it... I’m on a constant period!!!

Personally I almost passed out from the pain I was having the worst cramping I’ve ever experienced for a good 2 days straight. And then I bled for I believe 2 months

Mine was terrible pain and pain lasted a week after. I had 2 kids previously so I wouldn’t say that even made a difference for me. But getting it out was painless

Not really. It felt a little uncomfortable for like a minute and then I was fine! The worst part for me was the cramping afterwards and that really wasn’t that bad either.

Personnal experiences:1-Hurt as hell during all the installation 2~Last experience Hurted 15 seconds I guess it depends who intalls it.

I didn’t feel any pain at all during my insertion process. I took 4 Advil’s before I went in and got mine when I was on my period. (your cervix is opened a little more while on your period so less pain!) My Doctor told me “ok this is gonna be the most painful part but it won’t last long” and that made me nervous but she did something and then got up and I had to ask “did you do it yet?” Because I didn’t feel anything at all. I didn’t flinch once during the process. However, about 4-6 hours after the insertion I had the most god awful cramps that I just kinda sat on my bathroom floor and cried. But honestly just go to sleep and when you wake up they’ll be gone!
