How to introduce toys into the bedroom?

Sex with my boyfriend is great and everything but he’s so heavy handed with my clit that it’s usually too intense for me to get off 😫 I’ve told him about it and he really does try to be gentle but it’s still too much. I want to try and get him on board with toys but I don’t want him to feel like he’s not good enough or something. How can I delicately tell him that it’s something I want to try without saying I can’t deal with his big old meat hands?
