Has anyone tried a white noise machine?

I currently sleep with my floor fan to drown out the inside and outside noise. Just recently learned about there’s a white noise machine. If you own one what brand do you have?

Personally I use an app- Relax Melodies. It’s free with option to upgrade if you want. I never did. You can mix up your own sounds. I love the sound of rain myself. Very soothing.

You can try different apps on your phone or if you have an Alexa before buying one. Personally I like the noise of my fan better than white noise.

I had one like this for years

And since I met my husband he has a fan that we use instead. We also have this which we take with us when traveling for hotel rooms, use for our dogs if we have people over and will be using for baby. Has more options of different sounds like thunderstorms and rain etc as well as white noise.

I had a Homedics hologram alarm clock that had several noise settings, my favorite one being the thunder storm sound, but my husband loves the stupid fan and I hate it. My clock magically broke one day... I still have my suspicions about it just "being an old clock." Lol. I loved that clock. I'm still sad about it to this day, 5 years later, and desperately wanting the sleep I had with it back then.
