My husband and I have been married for 3 yrs ...back in November my stepson and his brother were removed from his mothers care and placed with his uncle do to neglect and abuse allegations against the mothers bf...Roughly 3 weeks ago we received a call that they she's 9 and 5 were removed from his uncle's care because of alleged abuse by the uncle's gf.. We were asked if we wanted emergency custody of them both..if not they would be separated in foster care..

We said yes absolutely but paperwork didn't get started til after labor day.. our back ground checks came back last Tuesday and we were told a local office would call to set up a home study. Anyway, this process is taking forever and I don't understand why because they said it was emergency custody. They aren't hustling like it's an emergency.

The poor boys are stuck in limbo while they get their things together..we're beyond ready for them to be here and settled and its not fair to them.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it taking longer because we are no relation to the younger boy?

We are so excited because we've wanted to have his son and now we'll have both. I'm going from mom of one boy to three..
