Side Feeding in Bed / Falling asleep?

Question

I recently tried side feeding in bed with my darling and I loved it and so did she!! It worked so well at calming her to sleep during those fussy hours at night. The problem is, I also fall asleep... Is this safe? My PP doula said put a pillow behind her so she doesn't roll anywhere. I'm just so nervous!! What do you guys do?

They make these foam wedges that the baby sleeps in between. That way they can't roll off the bed or onto their face. As long as you're pulling your breast far enough away from her face afterward, you should be fine. I slept with all 4 of my kids from day one, they're all fine and 3 of them sleep in their own beds. #4 is still nursing.

I cradle my son in my arm when side feeding. I often fall back asleep but I'm a light sleeper. Once he has finished he lifts his head and uses my breast as a pillow. Haha honestly if it wasn't for this, I wouldn't get any sleep!

We have our crib side car-ed with our bed and my daughter sleeps in her crib until she wakes up and then I slide her over to nurse. Sometimes I slide her back over (specially if I'm very tired) but often times she sleeps next to me all night and just nurses whenever she needs to. There is a lot of literature on safe sleep methods and I felt much more comfortable cosleeping/bed sharing after reading about it and setting safe sleep guidelines for our bed. For example, no heavy blankets or excessive pillows, nobody in the bed who is overly tired/under the influence of any drugs or medications that cause sleepiness, etc...

I usually end up dozing for a bit and then waking up to put baby in his bassinet. I try to just sit up in bed most times tho!

I was way too scared of falling asleep with my baby. I've done it a few times with my first and stopped shortly after. I never really slept well knowing she was in the bed and I was so afraid I would accidentally smother her or she would suffocate from the blankets or pillows. I've also heard horror stories about babies dying this way and I'm just overly paranoid about it. However, there are also so many benefits of sleeping with your baby.

My daughter loves it this way too and we both fall asleep but I don't really like to sleep all night like that I usually wake up and put her in her bassinet
