To the woman worrying if leaving her two kids with her MIL was putting her kids safety at risk

I had typed this out for you but then it got deleted. So if you’re still curious, here was my response:

CPS worthy concerns? No

But let’s address them:

1. Worst that can happen is the kids are rowdy in a restaurant. Could be very annoying to others there, but I don’t see this as a safety issue.

2. Do you trust her to follow your instructions about no swimming without you? Do you trust her supervision skills?

3. Eh... I think the crime rate thing is over worrying a bit. But would she have a stroller for the kids or is she planning on holding both of their hands? If the kids are in a stroller, there’s no running off.

4. You can set limits/boundaries on this. (No smoking in the car/windows must be down because it stinks in there, etc). Would she respect them?

The bottom line is only you know this woman and how much you can trust her and how much she is capable of handling. 60 years old for some is old, and for others - it’s not old at all. It’s different for every individual.
