Thoughts... anyone?

So there was this boy who I grew a crush on and we slowly began noticing each other more. Got to the point where they were EVERYWHERE but we didn’t talk. It was just a lot of stares and stare then look away kind of thing. I thought the whole staring thing needed to stop so I approached this guy and I spoke about some topic from class. Didn’t manage to get any social media or phone number but he has still been on my mind. Which I don’t understand because I don’t know this guy, yet I have had this crush for some time now and it won’t go away. And I feel dumb having the crush because like I said I don’t know this person. The crush isn’t based off of looks either because he isn’t even that cute. I just can’t seem to get this stranger out of my mind and if I were to approach him I wouldn’t know how to say how I feel... does any of this make sense. Can anyone relate?
