No cervical check???

Question

I'm currently 27 weeks and I have not had a cervical check as of yet. Is this normal? When I asked my OB if she we do one she simply said "no". I had it done my last pregnancy (with a different OB) so I'm confused.

My practice usually doesn’t offer to check until 37 weeks if wanted. I haven’t been checked either I’m 25w

Thank you all for responding. My last pregnancy was 7 years ago so I couldn't remember  when...I just knew I had it done lol. It would've been nice if my OB would have explained that they'll do it later in the pregnancy.

Pretty sure they’re not until late 30’s... even 38 weeks or something.  I listened to a podcast about it once 😅

They usually don't start that till much later. And it changes with how many you have. Mine didn't even start checking till 37wks and stripped my membranes at 39 with my first. My third was at checked at 35wks and stripped membranes at 37. I had the same OB through all 3 pregnancies and now again with a 4Th. I'm 27 wks now.

With my first I was only checked at 38w. Since I'm at the same hospital, the same policy applies so I know I won't be checked for another 10w

Good! Cervical checks increase risk of infection and give no valuable information!

I don’t think I was ever checked with my son. I did have a scheduled c section at 39 weeks and maybe they did it when they tested me for strep b, but I was never aware that they did one for me. I’m almost 28 weeks now with #2 and haven’t had one yet either.

I actually refused all cervical checks until I was 40 weeks, and that was so I could do a membrane sweep at the same time. Just don’t find them necessary.

My ob does them starting at 36 weeks

This year I was checked at 26w not sure why
