California and maternity leave..

Wondering if anyone can give me some insight, I’m 32 weeks and am starting to wonder when people usually take maternity leave. This is my second baby but with my first I was put on leave 2 mths early because if my blood pressure. So far I haven’t had the same problem this time around. So with my daughter I didn’t have to figure anything out as far as disability and stuff. So does anyone know legally how it works with getting disability pay.?? I heard legally people take 1 month before there due date, but then does that mean less time after??? Idk I’m just a little confused with the time I get off after having baby
