Trying to crack the food code. How do you get your toddler to eat??

Kristin

Getting my 2.5 year old to eat is a struggle. She loves fruit and carbs but only wants a bite or two and she’s done. Veggies are a struggle. But even when I serve her foods she does like, she either happens to not be in the mood for it or she wants to play with it. Today for example, she was excited to get Mac and cheese for dinner but this time I didn’t make it from a box. I ordered delivery from a restaurant. She was not happy and didn’t want to eat it because she claimed it wasn’t pasta. Ugh. Very picky. And lately she’s been asking for cereal and milk but when I give it to her she only takes a bit or gets distracted and doesn’t eat. She also gets mad if I take it away.

Teachers at school say she eats all her snacks and most of her lunch

She’s in the <5 percentile but doc says she’s healthy and in her normal growth curve.

Hubby thinks we need to offer her less food to get her to want to eat more. He says we can also try family style at the table so she can pick and choose what she wants rather than us deciding for her.

Has that worked for anyone? Any other tips to get kids interested in eating? I feel like we waste so much food.
