Can you use a opk?

Hi guys.. So I took an opk test at 10:30 this morning .. And I know your not supposed to use an opk as a pregnancy test. But .. Because they kind of detect the same hormone is this a positive? I don't want to get excited and trust this opk I will do a hpt test in a few days I just want to know answers for this haha

When I first ordered my OPKs I received them the day before AF . I tried one just for fun and to see how they worked and what not and ended up getting a positive that day before AF ! I was so confused as to why so I went to the store later to buy a hpt and sure enough I got a BFP ! Good luck

I would not use opk as a pregnancy test. Opks look for the Luntenizing hormone, while pregnancy test are for hcg hormone. Yes it is possible opk can pick up hcg, but for some people opks can remain positive for a while after ovulation, that is why the test packet says the first positive is the only accurate one. Goodluck, but I would wait it out for an hpt. It sucks when you give your hopes up.

Women have a second surge of LH just before their period. That being said, an hcg test would pick up a positive pregnancy before an opk would show it. Best bet is to use a pregnancy test to be sure. Best of luck.

In theory, yes, but OPKs cannot tell the difference between LH and HCG. Getting a positive OPK only tells you that you have either in your system, and you will always have LH present in your system.  HPTs will only detect HCG. So I would not use an OPK as a HPT as it could give you false hope.
