Sippy Cup?

Question

How do I help my son with a sippy? Or just let him make a mess with it until he learns? They want me to give it to him once a day with water, juice or formula in it. He just chews on it and lets it run out of his mouth and doesn't even try to swallow it.

Who’s “they” that they want you to put juice in it? I’d imagine most professionals in the child development field wouldn’t (or at least shouldn’t) recommend juice ideally - especially if the kid is under one. 
But maybe try a different cup. Like a weighted straw cup. Straw cups are supposed to be better for oral development anyways.

My son never liked the sippy cup. He had this aversion to actually having to work for his liquid by tipping the cup lol when he turned 1 I took away the bottle and gave he a straw cup and he never looked back! Now he uses the munchkin 360 cups.

I usually hold the sippy Cup for a little while so my daughter drinks and then ill leave her to it. Maybe your son is teething, my daughter tends to bite on them when she is.

I just stopped using bottles cold turkey so he’d be thirsty when I gave him it and have to drink it.  He learned really quick

I would skip the sippy cup and use straws.
