Anyone on the keto diet while pregnant with multiples?
I've been doing keto for a year and loving it. I'm pregnant with twins (about 9 weeks).
I asked my OB about nutricion and she said to speak to the specialist (high risk baby doctor). Every other doctor I've asked said to ask OB.
So I wait a couple weeks for my high risk doctor appointment and ask him the same line of questions. I explain I'm doing keto (he didn't know what that was so instead I just said low carb diet). I explain I'm at about 23 carb max and I'm not sure calorie and carb wise what I need as a goal for twins. I could tell he seemed a little out of his element and said he can send me to a diabetes nutritionist but since I don't have diabetes it really wouldn't help me but since I'm "a little overweight" the babies will get what they need and to just not change my diet.
I walked away feeling pretty defeated. Everything I've read does say you need to meet a certain amount of calories and carbs and to ask you doctor for the amount. Yes I am overweight a little right now but nothing crazy. I'm 2 pant sizes higher than my goal.
With my son I had gestational diabetes and I know continuing my keto diet will greatly help my chances of not getting it again so I'm pretty set on staying on it. I'm just concerned that it's not enough for my babies.
So I'm feeling like there's got to be some place I can get sound advice on what my keto diet should look like during this pregnancy. If it was one baby I feel like I could work it out but it's obvious everything is so so different with twins.
