Ear pain while sleeping?

Ok this is super random but, since becoming pregnant when I sleep on my side and then wake up my ear is throbbing (whichever side I was sleeping on). I have to rub it and it's so sore! This may not be pregnancy related at all and may just be me but I thought maybe the increased blood supply causes it? Anyone else experience this? It literally feels like I had my ear boxed/punched!

I usually sleep with one hand or arm under my face to keep the pressure off my ear. That seems to help. My left ear has two cartilage piercings and if I sleep on it wrong  I want to cry in the morning.

I had this and saw my doctor.  It is caused by fluid in your ears.  They gave me a nasal spray to open up the passage.  It can be caused by pregnancy, just like some pregnant women get a stuffy nose.

This happens to me, I think it's the equivalent of your ear falling asleep, like the tingling but it hurts. I was a thumb sucker as a kid and would play with my ears, if you tuck your ear lobe up into your ear before you lay your head down it seems to stop it from happening.

I've had the same thing for years. I think it's something to do with being in a heavy deep sleep. They do have special pillows with the ear indented

the same thing happens to me sometimes!!! It happened on occasion before pregnancy but it's been worse lately. No idea what causes it though
