Breastfeeding after C-section?

Question

I heard that it was harder and sometimes impossible to breastfeed after having a C-section because there is no hormone surge provoked by the delivery.
Not sure how true this is? Have you been able to breastfeed normally if you had a C-section?

Not true. The placenta leaving the body is what signals your body to start producing milk.

I had a cesarean and it took a few days for my milk to come in and my son had a very hard time latching. We were in the hospital and extra few days because of it. We had to formula feed him through a tube for a little while. One day out of nowhere he latched on perfectly and we've been exclusively breastfeeding ever since. He's now three months old and a pro! It does take longer for your milk to come in but is definetly not impossible

I had a c section and I exclusively pumped. My milk came in 2 days after having my baby. And I produced milk like crazy 8-10 oz ever 3 hours! I had no problems with it.

Emergency C-section mama here. My baby latched the second time we tried and was feeding no problem within 24 hours of delivery. We've been EBF since! Just my experience.

I don’t think it has to do with whether you had a c-section or vaginal birth. It can take a few days for milk to come in either way. People that have vaginal births can have just have trouble as well. I think people just like to associate it with a c-section. But like mentioned in a previous comment, I think it has to do with the placenta and hormones. Your body knows when baby is out.
