Do you introduce your children by their full name or shortened name?

For example, my sons name is Elijah but we always call him Eli. I always introduce him as Eli but sometimes I feel like I should introduce him by his full name? 😂 what do you do? Thanks for the responses!

For me personally, I introduce withh his full name, I didn't name him that to be exclusively called the nickname 🤷🏼‍♀️

I say something like “This is my daughter, her name is Madilyn but we also call her Maddie.” Then they can decide which one they want to use.

At first I used the full name, and I still do if it’s a more formal setting or I think it’s important someone know the full name. But if it’s some mom at the playground I’m never going to see again or other kids or a more familiar relationship, I am more likely to use the shortened version that we call him more often.

What I would do is when your son is old enough, ask him what he likes to be called and introduce him as whatever that is. Until then, just introduced him as whatever you want!

It depends... if it’s with other children or our friends that they’ve never met before than their nickname. If it’s a more formal event or people we do not know then their real name.
