Question

How often are you feeding your baby? When I left hospital (first time mom) they told me every 4 hours. I feel like my baby want a bottle
Every 2 hours. I’m struggling because I have no breast milk so I’m using bottle until it comes in.

Why no milk?  If you want to breastfeed you need to put baby to breast...my LO nurses every 2-3 hours  during thr day and it feels like all freaking night...but it's breastmilk...I'm mot sure about formula babies but I thought it was still every 3-4...

You don't need to feed your baby until your milk comes in. I mean you put them to your breast and they take what they need (colostrum). Unless you're bottle feeding then I don't know. Basically feed on demand.

Four hours?? When we left the hospital my milk hadn’t come in so using formula they told us every 2-3 hours. Mine has been eating about 2 oz every 2 1/2 - 3 hours.

4 hours? That’s odd. You feed them every 2-3 hours. And if you are breastfeeding they will most likely start to cluster feed after 24 hrs of being born, which is normal. If you are trying to breastfeed and are bottle feeding I recommend to stop and start breastfeeding because the more baby is on the breast the more supply you will have. Right now you have colostrum which is very important until your milk comes in.

My son is only 3 days but today has basically been on the boob since 8am. I get about 10 mins away and then he wants more. It’s killing me because we are having latch issues so I’m one sore mama, but we see the lactation consultant tomorrow. And I know the more I have him to breast the more milk I’ll get.
With my first we started supplementing with formula early and I had big supply issues and ended up on medications to help increase my supply, trying to avoid that this time around if I can.

Your milk doesn’t come in until 3-4 days after. You produce colostrum which is fine for the baby to drink. Feed on demand if you’re breastfeeding because a breastfed baby requires more than a formula fed baby.

You still feed baby by breast before milk comes in. I always fed on demand so the first day it wasn’t that much but after that about every 2 hours.

My baby is 4wks and FF.  She still cluster feeds and will eat 2-3oz roughly every two hours despite me desperately trying to get her to take more and go longer.  She does go a bit longer at night, usually 3-4hrs.
