Traveling in first trimester?

Hi ladies,

​I recently got my BFP 3 months after a a MMC and I'm beyond thrilled. I still can't believe it happened so fast! 
​
​That said, it's my fathers 60th birthday next weekend and he's a 3.5 hour flight away. I'll be approx. 6 weeks by then and I'm not sure if I should be traveling. I'm just terrified to take any risks considering my last mc. I'm praying that this pregnancy sticks!!!

​Has anyone had any issues traveling in their first trimester? Can it cause a mc in anyway? Any advice is appreciated!!

I flew at 14 weeks was absolutely fine. They don't want you flying after about 7 months in case you go into labor not because it's bad for you or the baby.

I'm flying tomorrow to visit DH's family. the one thing I asked about was the "x-ray" scanners. my OBGYN said the government says they're safe for pregnant women but there really are no proof or studies to say either way. she advised to tell them I'm pregnant and ask for a pat-down. other than that, flying is perfectly safe until later in your third trimester. safe travels!!

Just got back from a work trip - flew twice in one weekend. I'm 5w3d. Only thing is the had that full body x-ray screening at one of the airports, but I opted for the pat down. My boss who was traveling with me asked if I was pregnant when he saw this! I denied - hopefully he believed me!!

We're also goin on honeymoon to Sri Lanka and the Maldives in weeks 13/15. Im not at all afraid of flying, but more of the nausea and fatigue -if they dont pass by then. I guess there's nothing to worry! Enjoy your dad's party!!

I traveled cross country three times during my first trimester. Each pregnancy is different so if you're looking for reassurance ask your doctor.

Traveling is safe! I just got back from a week long trip in SC and I had an appt right before I left and my doctor said just to stay hydrated, don't skip meals while traveling, and whether I'm driving or flying be sure to move my legs every 30 mins to an hour because now that we are pregnant we are more susceptible to blood clots. Yep, echoing what others have said. I've been traveling (across country for a wedding, vacation later today, and a work conference in a month). Just get the pat-down and wear comfortable clothes. Take Jolly Ranchers with you in case you feel nauseated.

I went to Europe at 4&5 weeks. Was a 15 hour flight from Cali. No big deal flying or traveling.

Im almost 6 weeks and travelling for a vacation with DH 2moro.. Just dont lift any heavy luggage and relax!
