Question

36 weeks today. Are you supposed to stop having sex at some point so you don't induce early labor? I think it is pretty widely accepted that sex can trigger early labor and I don't want little man coming for at least a few more weeks. When did you stop? If you stopped at all...

It’s not widely accepted that sex can cause early labor. In fact, recent studies have found that women who have regular sex during pregnancy were more likely to make it to term. Like all natural methods of induction, it will only help progress the process if you’re ready to go into labor anyway (unless you have specific conditions and are advised against it). For the majority of women, it’s safe to have sex until your water breaks.

So I had a great big poke to my cervix at 38w2d with my 1st son from sex with my husband and my son was born 15 hours later. My contractions started about 10 minutes after that poke. Totally an accident, I was absolutely not trying to bring on labor 🤷
This pregnancy we have been scared to have sex now the last few weeks because I have an induction scheduled for 39w2d on July 11th and desperately want to make it to that date. I had a scary birth last time and barely made the hospital, so that would be a real nightmare for me. We still fool around but penetration and even when I orgasm makes us both real nervous because of what happened to us with my first son. 
Some people have sex all the time and it does nothing and some people have sex and it can bring on labor! My doctor called it "cervix manipulation", basically like a sweep, if your sex is rough or vigorous, on purpose or by accident. I have 24 days, so I think we may cool it for now and try and make it to our birth day! 😂

Were almost to 39 and haven’t stopped having sex. We haven’t had any signs of labor.

Only stop if it give you pain or bleeding. Or unless you have issues with the pregnancy itself. My hubby and I are 36+5 and still going at it at least once a week. Yes it can help get baby here faster. For people who are past due it can actually help with thinning the lining so the water can break easier. So unless there’s something wrong or it hurts and causes bleeding, keep going cuz soon you won’t be able to for almost 2 months

Still having sex my doctor claims it doesn’t induce but the semen will help thin out/soften cervix 😀
