Long miscarriage process - it's taking weeks, literally!

Abby

Hi everyone. I am 37 and having a hard time conceiving. I possibly had a failed implantation according to 2 doctors about 3 months ago. I had lots of nausea and final day I had a fever and heavy period with lots of clots. Finally got pregnant and had confirmed blood work. I was sent for blood every 4 days. They said everything is looking great. Now I'm in 6th week and went for my ultrasound only to be told I will miscarry because the fertility doctor said the heart beat is too week and it will die.

It's been a week and I have not miscarried. Today I went for another ultrasound and the doctor confirmed there is no heartbeat at this point. She did not recommend D&C but said it's an option if needed. I've decided to wait it out because of my age I want to miscarry naturally so I can start conceiving as soon as possible. I was told if I choose D&C I will have to wait 3 months for everything to heal before trying to conceive.

**UPDATE**

I have not miscarried yet. It's been a month since I was told I will miscarry in a week. Past week I've been getting pretty bad cramps and once spotted but still no sign of miscarriage. Doctors now say it can take months to miscarry and to wait it out as long as I dont get an infection.

Anyone else had such a long miscarriage process?
