If you formula feed, why did you make that choice?

I did it because my milk didn’t come in. Curious as to why others chose to.

I just decided I didn’t want to breastfeed. As a mom I already cater to all her needs most of the day (i stay home with her for the first year) that at night I enjoy having some time to myself.. my husband can feed her when he’s here. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 
I had decided that early in pregnancy and thank god because my anxiety was sky high after birth, I probably would of went crazy if I did try to breastfeed since it’s so demanding.

We do both, I exclusively pump and we supplement with formula. Our son had tongue and lip-ties and wasnt latching well. We finally started doing bottles and realized he needed way more than he'd been able to get. We are all so much happier and was a game changer. Plus bottle feeding has been easier and works better for us. Only reason we still do half breast milk is because it's free haha

I breastfed for the first 4 weeks and only occasionally supplemented with formula. During this time I realized he did much better with bottle vs breast. I started exclusively pumping at 4wks but still didn’t make enough milk and had to supplement 1-2 feedings a day with formula. By 7 weeks I was just completely over pumping it was just too much work and I wasn’t producing enough anyways. So I began weaning around 7 weeks. By 10 weeks I was completely done pumping and all formula. Honestly it was the best decision I wish I would of made the switch sooner.

I wasn't producing enough and she wasn't gaining weight. I wasnt pumping enough to do much for her either so at 7 weeks we went to strictly formula.

I was not producing enough! My right boob was the worst and she was constantly hungry! I spent most of my day feeding her i tried everything to help produce more more and even tried pumping! One night she was crying bc she was hungry i made a bottle of formula that i had and she drank it all up and looked so relaxed and happy after and then after that i made my decision!

I had GD.  Baby's levels weren't exactly where they wanted them to be.  Also had flat inverted nippels.  Baby never latched.  He likes to push his tounge forward and would rip off a shield.  I tried to pump only for about a month.  Got horrible matisis and clogged ducts everyday.  I couldn't do it anymore.  Getting up to pump, feed him and change him only gave me about 1.5hrs sleep each night and day.  Lactation consultants were also not covered by my insurance even though we have platinum insurance.  It was the perfect storm of awfulness.

i started supplementing since i was in the hospital. while i was pregnant, i was all about breastfeeding and didn’t even consider formula. after my LO was born, he latched only once and that was it; he was too eager to eat and wouldn’t  latch properly, even with nipple shields. 
i made the decision to pump what i could so he still gets the good stuff and then supplement if i couldn’t produce enough.
i’m returning to work next week and made the decision to fully wean from pumping and to solely formula feed.

I tried breastfeeding and physically it went pretty perfect, but he was a very hungry baby, and we started giving him a bottle of formula at night. When i would breastfeed i would suddenly become incredibly nauseous, I would seriously consider putting my newborn down so I could throw up. It was horrible, I couldn’t sleep, I constantly felt sick and I was beginning PPD because of how miserable it was, I dreaded feeding him. I tried to continue but I emotionally couldn’t handle it, so around 3 months he fully transitioned to formula feeding, and things have been so much better since then.

My baby lost a bunch of weight in the hospital and we ended up doing daily weight checks at the pediatrician...within 2 weeks of doing that we found out he had a milk protein allergy. The very first feeding on nutramigen he was a different baby. I know lots of mom's continue to breastfeed and just cut out dairy but i didn't want to see my baby suffer like that ever again if I accidentally consumed dairy or if he had a dairy + egg allergy. I just couldn't risk it. In addition to that though, I struggle with anxiety and depression, both of which were through the freaking roof after childbirth. I kept reading that your hormones dont balance until you finish breastfeeding and I was desperate to feel some level of normalcy again. I really enjoyed breastfeeding for the two weeks I did it and he had an excellent latch. It just wasn't for us though.

My milk came in but production slowed down to wear it wasn’t enough at all. I would only pump because she wouldn’t take my nipple
