Fixing her Melon 🍉

Em

Nothing fazes this smiley girl! For the next few months Esther will be sporting this cool little helmet. 👑

When Esther was just about 2 months old we noticed that she favorited laying with her head to the left and had difficulties turning her head to the right. We discovered that she had torticollis in her neck, making it painful/uncomfortable to stretch her neck muscles and leaving her with a limited range of motion. Because of this (and her long stretches of sleep at night), she started developing a flat spot on the side of her head (plagiocephaly). The next few months were filled with hours of tummy time, exercises, stretches, repositioning her when she slept, and multiple physical therapy and chiropractic visits. Her neck muscles are back to normal and she is a very strong little girl! However, even after all of that, and some improvement on her own, her plagiocephaly was still severe and we were recommended to go the route of the cranial helmet. We are confident that with this extra help her little noggin will round out quickly. 😊

If you have been through the same situation and have tips for making life with the helmet easier, we’d love to hear them!
