Birth control is messing with my periods?

I haven't had my period on my placebo week for three months, but I've had bloody discharge and mild cramps in the middle of the month a couple times. I am sexually active and on Lo Lolestrine Fe. What does this mean?

You need a higher dose of estrogen.

When you're on a low dose birth control, there's actually less estrogen in your body than there would be if you weren't on the pill. Crazy right. So the estrogen kind of binds everything together. The discharge is just some shedding bc of the low estrogen levels. I'd recommend switching to a higher dose bc. Can't help you with the periods though.
