I really have been thinking about telling my mother she can't be in the room when I deliever.  I know she's the grandmother. but I think that it should be a very special moment for me and my SO.

As my mom told me before I gave birth. "I wasn't in the room when you made him, I don't need to be in the room when he comes out! I can wait until you guys are ready."

It's every woman's choice! Personally my mother has been with me every time I delivered but I'm very close to her and wanted to share that with her. It's your choice honey!

I don't think that's selfish at all.  I personally wouldn't want my mom in the room.  With my first I didn't have the heart to tell her no and when they broke my water I was crying and she started balling her eyes out and ran out the room.  The Dr ran after her and left my there like "OK hi I'm sure like still here remember the one having the baby".

My mom was in the room for my first two. Which is not my husband's babies. Baby #3 will be just me and him... I want it to be intimate.

You alone have the say on who is with you in the room. I had my husband and I skyped with my mom, but she was in front of the "line of scrimmage" as I like to call it. She doesn't need to see that.

I dont think it's being selfish at all. It's your body and your baby. You choose who you want in there with you. My mom was in there for my 1st delivery and thats just cause everything happened so fast but if i ever have another child I'll probably only have my husband in there w/ me.

Personally I would want just my husband there. As much as I love my mom, I don't want to be exposing don't parts and traumatize her. I don't think she can even handle being in the same room.
