Would you clone your pet if you had the finances?

I suppose since I posted this and asked the question, I should state my own opinion on it. I feel 50/50 about cloning in general, but I do support the use of cloning technology to help repopulate animals like tigers that are going extinct. In regards to my pets, there is no denying I am obsessed with my Chihuahua, but if he died and I had the money to clone him, I wouldn't. While the clone will have the same genetic make up and might look like Buddy, his personality may be different from Buddy's. It would be a whole new dog, so why not just adopt a new dog? For that type of money, I could adopt a couple of dogs.

Yes!!! It wouldn't be the same, it would be a whole new dog that looked like my dog.

I feel the same way. I loved our dog more than anything, but a clone wouldn't be the same "her" and it just wouldn't be the same...

If I had that kind of money, I think it would do more to honor my pet by donating it to animals in shelters who are in need than to pour it into a genetic reproduction of an animal that won't even have what I loved the most about the original, their soul.

Nope because it may be genetically the same pet but there's no guarantee it's going to have the same personality or the same soul. The traits that make you love your pet aren't the genetics, it's the personality and if that animal was completely diffrent would it still be worth it?

Those are my exact thoughts.

No way. I love my dog to pieces, and the fact that he is pushing 9 years is upsetting to think of how long we have left. But no other incarnation of him would truly be the same. When it's his time to leave us we will be devastated and grieve substantially, but I'd never try and duplicate him, he is truly one of a kind 💞

I ADORE this dog. If anything happened to him, I'd be devastated. But even with an unlimited supply of money, I'd never clone him. I just don't think cloning would recreate all of the things I love about him, which predominantly have to do with his personality and temperament.

I had a cat that use to do that to me. I'm allergic to cats though so it often ended with me having an asthma attack, but I loved her. I was sad when I had to give her away.

Aww that's adorable. I've woken up because my head was vibrating..as the cat decided to be my pillow and just thinks it's the best.

That is too cute! My Chihuahua is like that. He likes to snuggle up on my baby bump now.
