The Waterpark- Part 26

6 months later....

Carter walks into my room.

“ Hey.” He says.

“ Hi.” I say back. He sits down on the bed next to me. He gives me a peck on the lips and pull him in for more. He pulls away.

“ I have your homework for this week.” He says, laying it down next to me. I sigh.

“ Thanks.” I say, placing my hand on top of it. He sighs and moves the papers to the side table.

“ You okay, babe?” I ask.

“ Yeah.” He says.

“ You’re a terrible liar, Carter McAdams. What’s going on?” I ask pulling his head down onto my lap. I start running my fingers through his hair. He sighs.

“ I don’t know. I just have a really bad feeling about this so called ‘job’ Jaime’s dad got. I mean, he hasn’t called or texted or emailed either of us. I’m just really worried.”

“ Baby, he’s probably just getting settled into LA.” I reassure.

“ It’s been 5 1/2 months, Shay.” He counters. “ That’s plenty of time to settle in. And to call.”

“ He probably just doesn’t want to ruin how happy we are.”

“ Or he does.”

“ What?”

“ I mean, he knows we’ll be worried about him and that we won’t focus on each other which will drive us apart eventually. At which point he can renter the picture.” He says, like he’s onto something.

“ Okay, now you’re being crazy, Carter. There is no way in hell Jamie would do something like that. Not after—”

“ After sexually assaulting you. He finishes.

“ Yeah.” I sigh. He lifts up and grabs his phone. He dials a number and presses the phone against his ear.

“ You callin him?” I ask. He nods. When Jaime doesn’t answer, I pull him back onto my lap. I lift up his shirt at the back and slowly start to scratch his back. He sighs. He starts to rub his hand across my thigh. He lifts his head up and kisses me. I grab his face and keep him there. He sits up. I turn us around and straddle him. He moves to kissing my neck. I close my eyes and run my fingers through his hair.

“ I want to go all the way.” I say.
